FPHRC Fitness Department Spotlight: Rooted in Goodness and Growth — Kristin Krasko
At the heart of our fitness department is a team of passionate, dedicated teachers who serve the students at our center with purpose and care. Each one brings a unique set of gifts that not only enriches the classroom experience but also inspires growth—physically, mentally, and spiritually.
This May, as we reflect on the Fruit of the Spirit, we’re highlighting goodness—a trait so clearly evident in the lives and work of our fitness teachers. Their goodness shines through in their daily commitment to modeling integrity, kindness, and perseverance, both in and out of the gym. They don’t just teach movement—they live out a calling to nurture, encourage, and lead by example.
You see their goodness in the little things: cheering students on, teaching the value of hard work, checking in on someone who’s been absent, offering a quiet word of encouragement or prayer after class. They create spaces where people feel seen and valued—and that’s what sets them apart.
Our center offers a variety of classes, including basketball, wrestling, gymnastics, volleyball, mashoonga, and group fitness for kids, teens, and adult ladies. I’m thrilled to share that we welcomed three new teachers this spring semester. The impact of our department can be seen every day in the way students gain confidence in their abilities, grow in self-discipline, build strength, and develop a desire to live healthy, active lives.
There have been so many meaningful moments that continue to inspire me—like a student hitting a new personal record for planking, the joy of mastering a tough movement, the energy of friendly competitions, the quiet sharing of prayer requests, and new friendships forming. These are the moments that fill my heart: glimpses of growth, joy, faith, and community.
My vision for this department has always been to offer fun, welcoming fitness options for students of all ages—a place where everyone feels like they belong, and every person who walks in knows they matter, no matter where they’re starting from. I think of the Fruit of the Spirit, especially goodness, and how it shows up not just in grand gestures, but in the consistent, everyday presence we offer to others—whether in class, or simply catching up in the hallway. In that way, our fitness community truly is full of goodness.
Every week, I’m blessed to see the joy on our students’ faces. It’s a privilege to be part of the lives of our center’s families and to witness students discovering that fitness can be fun. Whether we’re organizing challenges, refining skills, or offering steady encouragement, our department continues to make a lasting difference.
I’m reminded of Matthew 5:13–16—we are called to be salt and light. We are so thankful for God’s goodness, and we give Him all the glory!
